"Creating Improvisational Quilt Blocks" Workshop
Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 - Asheville, NC
Join us for a fun day full of color, creativity, and companionship as we explore the possibilities of Improvisational Quilting. This is a creative approach to quilt block piecing that does not involve using a pattern or picky measurements. You will learn several techniques to use your intuition (instead of a pattern) to make fun, easy, playful quilt blocks. You will make design decisions as you go along, leading to more spontaneous, creative, wonky quilt blocks. You will leave with lots of ideas about how to use these fun blocks either alone or in combination with other blocks to make awesome one-of-a-kind quilts. Oh, did I mention this is FUN. Come release your inner child! This workshop is appropriate for all levels of quilters.
Participants must have sewing experience and bring their own sewing machine and supplies. A detailed supply list will be provided in advance of the workshop. Estimated materials cost is $0 - $40, depending upon whether fabric will need to be purchased. (This technique is great for using up scraps!)
This workshop (CRN #20013) will be taught at OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) in the Reuter Center on the UNCA campus in Asheville, NC on Saturday, May 2nd, from 9:00am - 3:00pm. For more information about OLLI and to register for the workshop, visit http://www.olliasheville.com/workshops or call 828-251-6140. Note: you do NOT need to be an OLLI member to attend this workshop.
